Plymouth Named the UK’s Fastest-Growing Property Hotspot

Plymouth has started the year with another reason for property buyers and investors to take notice. According to a recent Telegraph article, Plymouth recorded the strongest house-price growth in the UK, with average prices rising 12.6% over the year to October. The report, citing analysis of mortgage lending by Lloyds Bank, said the average Plymouth home increased in value by £31,229, reaching £278,808.

For a city that has sometimes been overlooked in favour of larger South West markets, the figures are significant. The Telegraph highlighted investment and redevelopment, including the transformation of the historic Royal William Yard, as factors contributing to Plymouth’s appeal. The article also pointed to the city’s improving retail, sporting, culinary and lifestyle offering as reasons buyers are increasingly considering Plymouth.

For House Style, the figures reinforce what makes the city such an interesting property market. Plymouth combines a spectacular waterfront and access to the Devon coast with a major university, significant employment centres and a diverse range of housing. However, headline growth figures are only part of the picture. Property performance can vary considerably between neighbourhoods and individual streets, while past price increases are no guarantee of future growth. Buyers should consider condition, location, rental demand and their own objectives before making a decision.

What the latest figures do demonstrate is that Plymouth is attracting attention on a national level. A city once easily overlooked when discussing southern property hotspots is increasingly becoming part of the conversation — and for buyers looking at Plymouth in 2026, that makes understanding the local market more important than ever.
