When House Style began working with Mastering Media, our objective was straightforward: help more students and educators discover the wealth of Media Studies knowledge already contained within the website. The latest year-on-year figures demonstrate just how significant that transformation has become. Comparing the same week with last year, Mastering Media increased from 252 to 903 sessions — growth of 258%. Unique visitors climbed from 187 to 779, an increase of 317%, while page views rose from 364 to 1,165 — up 220%. But behind those headline figures is an even more interesting story.

Targeting an International Audience

A year ago, Mastering Media was overwhelmingly UK-focused. Of its 252 weekly sessions, 221 came from the United Kingdom, representing almost 88% of all traffic.

Today, the picture looks very different. UK sessions have more than doubled to 473, demonstrating continued growth in Mastering Media’s core market. At the same time, international discovery has accelerated dramatically. Traffic outside the UK increased from just 31 sessions to 430 — growth of approximately 1,287%.

Mastering Media is now being discovered by visitors from the United States, India, China, Australia, South Korea, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and across Europe, alongside significant traffic from Singapore. For House Style, this is what successful SEO should achieve. It isn't simply about appearing higher on Google. It's about connecting valuable expertise with a larger and more relevant audience.

Discovery is only the beginning

The data also tells us where to concentrate next. Mastering Media is attracting considerably more people, but our next challenge is encouraging those visitors to explore more of the site's extensive educational content. We're therefore moving from a strategy predominantly concerned with discovery towards one increasingly focused on engagement and authority.

A major part of this will involve restructuring Mastering Media's blog around clearly defined categories, including Eduqas A-Level Media Studies, Eduqas GCSE Media Studies, Media Theory & Key Concepts, Set Products & Case Studies, Revision & Exam Preparation, and Media Careers & University.

These categories will allow us to connect related articles, create stronger internal links and develop authoritative subject hubs around topics where the analytics already demonstrate demand. The Mastering Media project illustrates something fundamental to the House Style approach.

Good SEO isn't about creating noise. It's about helping the right people discover something genuinely useful. We've substantially increased Mastering Media's visibility. Now we're working to turn that growing international audience into deeper engagement, greater authority and sustainable long-term growth.
