At House Style, some of the most rewarding businesses to work with don't need reinventing. The substance is already there. Our role is to uncover what makes the business distinctive and help its brand and digital presence communicate that quality. That was immediately apparent when we began working with Simon at DSGN Plastering Services.

From Craftsmanship to Brand

DSGN provides specialist internal and external finishes across Bournemouth and Dorset. Our initial audit found excellent craftsmanship, authentic project photography and an established five-star reputation. But we also identified a disconnect: the quality and aesthetic sensibility of Simon's work were considerably stronger than the identity being presented online.

And DSGN's customers were already telling us what the brand should stand for.

One client described work completed to a “very high standard”, praising the “excellent attention to detail” and the fact that DSGN left the property “spotless.” They also highlighted excellent communication, reliability, minimal disruption and Simon passing on his trade discount for materials. Their conclusion was wonderfully simple: “Professional, reliable and great value.”

These aren't marketing claims invented in a branding meeting. They're qualities customers are genuinely experiencing.

A brand beginning to reflect the craftsmanship

Our audit also identified Simon's design eye as a major differentiator. His interest in natural materials, architecture and considered interiors suggested an opportunity to position DSGN beyond the conventions of a typical trade business.

Importantly, Simon acted on the recommendations. The previous fluorescent yellow palette felt more closely associated with construction and site work than premium interiors. We recommended moving towards charcoal, stone, off-white and concrete grey — a quieter, more architectural palette that better complements DSGN's work.

Simon has subsequently revamped the website and evolved the colour palette, beginning to bring the digital identity much closer to the quality and direction of the business itself. The concept visual developed through the audit demonstrates how DSGN could become more editorial, architectural and design-led while retaining its essential character.

Five-star feedback for House Style

It was particularly satisfying to then receive Simon's own five-star Google review:

“Fantastic experience working with Stephen and Michael. They really took the time to understand my business, goals and target clients. Highly recommend their strategic expertise to any business looking to grow!”

That word understand matters. House Style isn't about imposing our identity on somebody else's company. We identify what's already special and help the business express it with greater confidence. With DSGN, the craftsmanship was there. The customers were already telling the story. Simon was ready to make changes. Our role was to bring those elements together — and help the brand catch up with the business behind it.
